MSNBC host Rachel Maddow believes our culture has become deeply militarized, and wonders: Just how did this come to seem normal? From the Vietnam War to Reagan’s “gunslinging” presidency and the global “war on terror,” Maddow, author of Drift, explores how the national-security sector has shape-shifted and grown—favoring the priorities of the war machine over those of civilian life—to the point of financially unsustainability, a confused mission, and a weaker and less secure country. Maddow will be interviewed on stage by two-time Pulitzer-winning editorial cartoonist and columnist David Horsey, of the Los Angeles Times (and formerly Seattle Post-Intelligencer). Presented by the Town Hall Center for Civic Life with University Book Store. Series media sponsorship provided by PubliCola. Series supported by The Boeing Company Charitable Trust and the RealNetworks Foundation.

Please do all you can to get another show with Rachel Maddow. It has been too long since she has been here!

About Rachel Maddow being sold out, would you consider an “anteroom” situation where we could at least be in the foyer hearing her talk?
Also, are you taking a wait list? If so, I’d like to add my name and that of Megan Whittingham.
    Thank you.

We will accommodate as many folks as possible from a stand by line. No waiting list.

Where will the stand by line be and how early may we line up?

On the sidewalk to the south of the entrance on 8th Avenue. We don’t know when the line will start forming.

Is there a limit to how early we MAY line up? For example, may I bring a small beach chair and park myself at the 8th Avenue entrance at say……10:00am?

The line will form on the public sidewalk to the south of the parking spaces on 8th Avenue, not on Town Hall property. We strongly discourage furniture for two reasons 1) the sidewalk is narrow and we need to be good neighbors and make sure the sidewalk is passable by pedestrians at all times and 2) we will not let anyone bring any kind of furniture into Town Hall. That being said, we can’t tell people when they can be on public property and have no idea when folks might start lining up.

What are the chances of adding another talk with Rachel? It looks like the demand is there ….

We’ve asked! Unfortunately, the answer so far has been that her schedule doesn’t allow it.

I really hope someone asks Rachel some hard questions-

Rachel it really seems that you are not critical about O’bama.

Why Rachel is a good idea to use drones to assassinate people all over the world?

Why are we not cutting our army budget Rachel?

    hope for some answers.

Hi! I was just wondering how much of the 90 minutes is her talk and how much of that time will be dedicated to book signing? I have plans immediately afterward and would like to know how to budget my time. Thanks.

We can’t tell you exactly. We imagine that at least an hour will be devoted to her conversation with David Horsey and audience Q & A … but that’s just a best guess.
