Global Rhythms’ squeezebox spectacular returns with a rising star atop the bill: hip young bandoneón master/composer Juan Pablo Jofre. Having attracted the attention of the international press and captivated audiences at the Heineken Jazz Festival in Puerto Rico, Jofre and his exquisite abilities as a player of tango’s quintessential instrument are becoming increasingly well-known—and admired. He’s joined on the Accordi-O-Rama bill by several local squeezebox luminaries: Saturday Family Concerts favorites Toy-Box Trio , playing new classical music with carnival flair; “The Kings of Mongrel Folk” (harmonica virtuoso Mark Graham and local guitar legend Orville Johnson); Lee Xiong, who plays the qeej, a Hmong variation of the Laotian khene (itself a variation of the Chinese sheng); the strolling styling of Puget Sound accordion luminary Bonnie Birch; and Seattle multi-instrumentalist composer/singer Amy Denio, another beloved Family Concerts veteran. Presented by Town Hall. Series media sponsorship provided by KBCS 91.3 FM and KEXP.
Advance tickets are $13/$10 Town Hall members, students & seniors at Brown Paper Tickets or 800/838-3006; $15/$12 at the door.

Hey Seattle, Filumena is performing at Accordi-O-Rama V at Town Hall today. She’s not a headliner or anything but filling in on the breaks. It starts at 2PM if you’re looking for something to do today!
I was at the performance yesterday and did not pick up the CD of the Jofre Quartet because the line was so long and figured I could obtain it on the net- no luck on that.
Do you have a source for the CD, or, better yet, to you have some to sell?
Thanks,
Jim Hatfield
Please email me at sheila@townhallseattle.org and I will provide you with JP Jofre’s contact information.
