European Christmas Potpourri with Eric Milnes

Eric-MilnesThis beloved local ensemble, under the baton of guest director Eric Milnes, celebrates the season with a selection of sacred cantatas and favorite holiday pieces, featuring Canadian soprano Hélène Brunet.  The program includes Handel’s “Gloria,” “Noels” by Delelande, Corelli’s “Christmas Concerto,” and Marin Marais’ “Chaconne,” as well as cantatas and arias by Scarlatti, Salazar, and Bach. Milnes — who will also play the harpsichord during the evening — is Director of Music at St. John’s of Lattingtown (Long Island) and founder of Portland’s Trinity Consort. A preconcert lecture begins at 7:00 p.m.
