Andrew Ross: Phoenix: Lessons from the World’s Least Sustainable City
Friday, February 3, 2012, 7:30 – 9:00pm
Downstairs at Town Hall; enter on Seneca Street. $5.

In Bird on Fire, Andrew Ross (Professor of Social and Cultural Analysis at NYU, and a Nation contributor) examines Phoenix, AZ, one of the fastest growing and least sustainable metropolitan regions: a city in the bull’s eye of global warming. Ross contends that if we can’t change the game in fast-growing, low-density cities like Phoenix, the whole movement has a major problem, and argues that solutions will come through political and social change rather than technological fixes. Presented by the Town Hall Center for Civic Life with Elliott Bay Book Company. Series media sponsorship provided by PubliCola. Series supported by The Boeing Company Charitable Trust and the RealNetworks Foundation.
Tickets are $5 at Brown Paper Tickets or 800/838-3006, and at the door beginning at 5:30 pm. Town Hall members receive priority seating.
